200..

In honor of my 200th post (which in typical me fashion, I missed :p ), and in honor of the season, I want to do a giveaway. But a different kind. I want you guys to nominate a child, or children in a family, who you believe could use a little extra something special this Christmas, for whatever reason(Sorry, I need to keep this within Australia right now to keep the shipping down), and I will make them a little present just for them, and send it in time for Christmas. All you need to do is leave a comment by this Saturday night, and I will do a random draw, and pick one out. (Please have a mailing address available, too, that I can get from you later. Oh, and a few details, like gender, age, a few tastes, etc, so I can tailor a little. :) )

Now, I can only commit to one child/family right now...it's getting down to the wire for making and shipping presents...but if anyone else wants to join in the fun, I am happy to do some hooking up! :D Feel free to spread the word around...the more the merrier!!

A giveaway...

I've been planning on doing this giveaway for ages (meant for Post 100..and then Post 200...what am I up to now?? :p ), but I might as well get my butt in gear and join the Blogtoberfest giveaway bonanza over at Curlypops, huh??

It's a cross stitch book, filled with patterns of Dutch scenes, and stuff. It's not for the faint of heart, being all in Dutch, but the illustrations are all in color, so I would imagine it would be easy to work out how to make them up on your own.

I haven't cross-stitched in close to 15 years, so I don't really have a need for it, but I just think it's such a cool book, and want to pass it on to someone who WILL use it!!

To enter, just leave a comment, and it would be cool if you spread the word, too. :D I'll leave it open til Nov 1 Midnight my time, which is Halloween Midnight to the other side of the world. Whoooo-ooooo....Okay, my spooky whoo-whoos leave a lot to be desired. Never mind. lol

So how about it?? Anyone up to the challenge?? :D

Whoops....

I seem to have missed....3 posts?? Or two...or something. Anyway. Here is why:

I call it Extreme Crafting. Dh calls it whining because I had to go work with him for the last three days, sanding and polishing this floor and set of stairs. Whatever.

While I was gone, I got the news that Liz from The Quilted Turtle, one of my Pay It Forward winners, got her package, so I can FINALLY show it to y'all!

A few years ago, dh went to Beijing for a few months for work, and while he was there, he visited the famous dirt market (OMG how much I wish I had been there!!) and bought me a bunch of various assorted beads and jewellery, this jade turtle among them. It's been sitting around on the bottom of my bead box since then, and as soon as I saw that Liz was among the comments on my post, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it.

The turtle is attached by ribbons sitting in grooves carved along the sides, rather than through a hole drilled through the middle. Very cool. The tassel itself is made from ripped shantung silk strips, ribbons, strands of lavender and cola brown seed beads, and mother of pearl and metal charms. I love it. :)

And the winner is.....

Okay, went and did the whole random number generator thing, and after a few false starts, I got the answer: Number 6, Sharleen of Two Cups of Coffee!!

So, you want to shoot me your addy, and I'll get send off your prize! lol

Giveaway..

I guess now is as good a time as any, while I actually have visitors. :p

Went crazy with the handkerchief bin at St Vinnie's, nevermind that I don't actually ever USE hankies in anything....

These are just simple, basic, vintage little hankies...most of them are just printed on, though one has a sweet little embroidery on it. They are in the condition I got them in, including random stickers that say Made in Ireland on one or two of them (I think...they are in the other room, and I am wayyy too lazy to get up and get them....hey, it's 2am, I am allowed to be in a zombie state. :p

I LOOVE that polkadotted pink one....but I am tossing it in, to assuage my guilt for keeping this one all to myself:

Besides, with my borderline OCD, I hate to break up a set...like madly, passionately...and those two are from the same place. Don't listen to dh, I am not actually REALLY a freak. :p I just have...preferred way of doing things, heh.

Okay, so rules, umm...never done these before, so trying to remember what all is important!! Leave a comment, and on Friday midnight, Sydney time, I'll go find me a random number generator thing, and draw a number. Sound right?

Oh, look what else I got the same day:

The purse is totally on it's way out, but since I don't want anything but the handles, I am totally set. :D Aren't they just the coolest??

Oh, feel free to post my giveaway info around...since it makes my numbers look all awesome and all. :p Yes, I am shameless.

Side note to self...poly-cotton does not like being ironed on a linen setting.

Another note to self...don't buy poly-cotton, no matter how awesome the price looks. The crap just isn't worth it.

Farmchicks...

I saw a mention of Farmchicks this morning as I was running out the door on a blog that I can't remember, rushing out the door and all, and thought they looked so cute I bookmarked the site for later; this evening I saw another mention again on My Byrd House and figured it out...Apronista is having a giveaway! Woohoo!
