Beautiful pictures, but there is something sad about abandoned homes, like you said. I always wonder about the people who use to live there.

I always wonder why people abandoned those homes. Especially ones that look like they were so pretty once upon a time. The remodeler in me wants to take them up and turn them into a home again.

As the others say, yes, I always wonder about the stories behind the house and its sad appearance. Wonderful post.

Stacy-Yeah...my fingers itch to just get in there and nail this back up, and wash that, and rehang that other thing. It would take so little to bring some of those places alive again. Some of the others, well, yeah....long gone.

Oo, how sad. I saw a show on TV about the credit collapse in the USA and there were whole suburbs of beautiful houses like this abandoned because people lost their home loans. So sad. They were such lovely houses too. It just didn't make any sense to have them empty when the occupants where left without anywhere to go, and there's such high homelessness over there too. Senseless.

Meanwhile those lovely homes get left cold and empty to rot into decay. Sad sad state of affairs.

However, leaving the politics behind, these photo's are so beautiful. Haunting. I love old falling down rusty farm sheds too.

P.S. Thank-you so much for your supportive comment on my last post. The reason you've seen me commenting everywhere was because of the wave of guilt, and my attempts to remedy it :)

I agree with your point about deleting a blog. It's a sad thing. Like "disappearing" someone.

Hi again. Thanks for your swift, and once again sweet comment.

If you ever want to email me, check out my 'contact' page on my portfolio site. People do that sometimes. :)

I had a stalker once who freaked me right out, so I'm a little more cautious these days. I protect myself with a few clicks.

They speak to me too... soooo beautiful in their disarray and abandonment. I would love to find houses like this... such a beautiful setting for a photograph.

I, too, have always been fascinated and saddened by old, abandoned homes. I always try to imagine what they must have been like when they were new and glorious, and wonder about the people who lived there. So many hopes and dreams embedded in those walls, and obviously a fair amount of tragedy and disappointment in the end. If walls could speak, the stories they could tell, eh?

I agree... sort of spooky!

I remember seeing his work ages ago and being moved by it. So sad yet gentle. I hope someone can take care of them, rebuild and lovingly inhabit...
