Orange and Brown..

I love warm, fall colors...they are my colors. They are also the colors of my friend, and since I am making her a new purse, I used them for her, too.

Brown babycord, with a cotton print on the flap. I did and pocket on the flap with a slot zip, which did give me fits, though it came out relatively okay. I made the strap a SMIDGE too wide, and sadly, it shows. Oh, well. I salvaged the clip and slide thing off an insulated picnic bag which had gotten trashed. Pattern is my own. Ignore the wrinkles from being squished in a bag to mail off, and then encountering the ant-laden iron.

Lined with synthetic lining material from my stash that happened to match perfectly. A couple of small pockets inside for cell phone or whatever.

Catching up...

This first outfit was a WIP...aka, I cut it out for my niece when she was 7...she's now 10. :eyeroll: Luckily for me, I have a friend with a little girl the right size, so I have someone to give it to, and FINALLY get it out of my sewing piles!!!

It's Ottobre 1/2005 design 16 & 17. I lined the pockets and hems with the fabric of the top, and made the beltloops out of the same fabric. I didn't do the little ribbon decoration they did, cause I couldn't find the right width in the right color, so I just added a little bow, which DOES look better IRL! Disclaimer: I DID go to iron it, but an ant colony had moved in, and I kept steaming out these soggy ants! Ugh!

A close-up of the hem detail...ignore the fact that sewing straight evenly is NOT my forte!

These dresses started out as tops, with little cap sleeves. They are Ottobre 2/2005 design 11, made with baby cord, rather than the poplin they suggest. The first has little sequins and beads scattered amongst the flowers.

The second was made from this supersoft Laura Ashley babycord I got in St. Vinnie's, 4 yards for $10...bargain!

I had to redraft the sleeves, and draft the skirt on, and having no 6 yo around to try it on, I really, really hope it fits the intended recipient!! And the ribbon is a soft celadon, not yellow like it looks in the pics. I hate yellow. :p

More flapper love...

Finally finished the companion piece to the 1920's notebook. Man....being late is really, really lame. :(

Copied from an image by John Held Jr., since Erte seemed so ubiquitous, much as I love him. Plus I loved the style and splash of the one I copied. Done in the same style as my other boxes. Lined with an Ikea paper, cause it was the best one I could find that matched, despite have 2 fabulous sources of paper within 2 blocks of my house. It's a little larger than the other ones, though, since I ran out of the smaller ones in my stash.

I've got green!!!

It arrived
! And not only did she send me a total little cutie, but she sent me a GREEN one! I wonder if she was stalking my green love? :p

Dd was disappointed, cause she was hoping for pink, her fave color, and my not-so-favorite color. :p Goes awfully well with green, though. :p
