Finally, summer...
The other week, another mom and I took a herd of boys on a walk around the headland at North Curl Curl, towards Dee Why, as our homeschool activity for the day. As you can see, the views were incredible. I didn't manage to get a shot of what topped the BOYS' day...a military cargo plane making multiple passes on a steep bank around the headlands, right next to us, before heading out to sea. My boy had brought his binoculars, so they got some use there, lol.
At the Dee Why side, we sat on the rocks next to the baths (a salt water pool filled from the ocean, and usually, cut out of the rocks...I've never seen them in the States, but they are very common here), and had lunch, while avoiding the divebombing seagulls suspended in mid air next to us.
While we were sitting there, this very depressed looking kid came along and tossed flowers into the water. It seemed to have some significance...I felt like a voyeur with my camera and my lunch, sitting there.
After lunch, the kids went swimming in the baths, and cruising through the rock pools, and the other mom and I just watched the surfers.
We like that kind of school day. :p

That sounds like a really lovely day : ) I love those kind of homeschooling days too.
One time I saw a video of a woman giving birth in one of those pools. They were really into the natural LOL
The kids probably learned more valuable things in that one day than in a week wasted in a classroom.
Its' so cool that summer is just starting for folks in the Southern Hemisphere while we are heading into winter up north.
I don't have anything against classroom-based teaching (each to their own and all that sort of thing) ... but your school day does sound idyllic! Beautiful photos as usual, too.
Three of my favorite things: the beach, sumer and cheesecake.
What a great day. The seagull picture is beautiful... But I feel quite sad for the lone boy with his flowers. You can see just by the slouch of his shoulders that he was carrying great sadness that day :(
I was all excited about school today until I read this post - my plans pale in comparison!
Sounds like the perfect school day to me! I'd love to hear more about your homeschooling. I'm getting ahead of myself here, but it's something we're seriously considering for our future kids.
I'm so jealous. Give me some of that temperature here in Canada!!
